{What happened today?}

Today was the oral presentation. I was presenting on my project on the skin effect, and as such, I was really nervous and was affecting my train of thoughts. Thankfully, my teacher and friends supported me, and after mustering my courage right before my presentation, I was able to deliver a really good presentation, with the judge impressed with my understanding of concepts. Apart from my presentation, I have also watched other presentations as well, such as the effect of de-icers on grass, and the effect of music on human emotions.

After the oral presentations, we attended a baseball game. It was really interesting, as first, there is no such experience in Singapore, so it was really new and fun knowing how the event is being run. Next, while there is the actual baseball match, there were also really small activities like small children playing musical chairs, which improved the atmosphere in the baseball game. Lastly, there were also some food and exclusive momentos that we have bought in the shops as well.

{What is the cause of the success or failure?}

For the oral presentation, the cause of success were first, I prepared extensively while doing my project, questioning myself about why do I do what I am doing throughout my project, and this made me more critical about myself, and I was able to spot the flaws in my project right before I flew to Chicago. Next, it was also due to the fact that I managed to calm myself down before my presentation, because if I was still panicking then, then I would not be able to present my project properly, let alone answer the judges' questions properly as well.

Generalising
{What have you learnt?}

From this, I have learnt several things. First, I need to know exactly what I am doing and if I do not know why I am doing certain things, then I will have to stop doing it until I fully know why. That way, I do not make any errors which would spoil the quality of my work. Next, your preparation would be wasted if you cannot even go up to the front and present your project properly, as the lack of confidence would cause you to not communicate your ideas fully, and thus would also degrade the quality of your work (basically the same as going up to the stage confidently with a very mediocre quality project). Regarding other people's project, I have learnt about various scientific knowledge, and also the points to take note when conducting a presentation.

Applying
{What would you do in the future?}

In the future, especially when I try to improve my project, I would continue to have this attitude on being critical of myself. Next, I would want to be more confident in sharing my ideas effectively so that I do not miscommunicate any pieces of information by mistake.
