{What happened today?}

Today we attended a panel about renewable energy, which discussed about the various problems and solutions regarding renewable energy, and what can we do about it. Next, we had a workshop which allowed us to learn about nuclear energy, how it works, and what are its advantages and disadvantages. We then went on a trip to Invenergy, where we were able to see the solar farm, and all the windmills that were placed there to collect wind energy. Lastly, we ended off the day really well with the international performances done by students from different countries.

{What is the cause of the success or failure?}

The day went really smooth, mostly because I had an open mind and tried to learn whatever I can from the various workshops and field trips, and this allowed me to have a really different perspective on various issues.
Generalising
{What have you learnt?}

I have learnt a few things from the panel. First, I have learnt that while renewable energy solutions can be used, but we have to understand that there are some limitations such as environmental factors and affordability. The panellists have discussed various solutions to these issues, such as subsidising these solutions. We also learnt that providing energy for people is very crucial as this can be a factor which can bring people out of poverty. They have suggested a few actions we can do, first we can be aware of our carbon footprint and reduce carbon footprint, especially choosing what mind of transportation we should take as most of the carbon footprint would come from transportation. Next, they encourage us to pursue fields regarding energy such that we can develop new solutions.

{What would you do in the future?}

When I come back to Singapore, I would want to spread awareness about energy conservation there, because Singapore emphasises a lot about energy conservation due to its lack of resources such as space.
