{What happened today?}

Today we attended a talk by a panel of experts about the problem of hunger in the world. Afterwards, we then had a design sprint, whereby we had to work with people from different countries to come up with a solution to our problem statement, ”How can we design an innovative and climate resilient agricultural system, while protecting the environment and providing nutritious food for all”. Then, we had to present our ideas and the best idea would be allowed to be presented up in front of everyoat, which, our team did not manage to get this opportunity. Lastly, we did some recreational activities like building a bear and going to a target store to buy some things before the day has ended.

{What is the cause of the success or failure?}

The cause of failure would be due to us being unable to interact well with each other. This is a flaw because we were very passive about the discussions, and thus we could not come up with a really impressive solution.

{What have you learnt?}

From the talk, I have learnt a few things there. The problem is due to the way the agricultural system is designed, such as having a relatively small amount of crops. The solutions that they have discussed would be to first look at hunger at both a social and holistic problem. Next, they claim that poverty is the root cause of hunger. As such, initiatives that promote improved accessibility, budget their finances properly, and make the agricultural systems more effective such as making use of perennial crops.

{What would you do in the future?}

First, I would want to be more sociable, as this is very crucial in various group projects, especially for those where I cannot choose who I want to work with. Next, I would want to also make sure I could raise awareness about this issue so that people in Singapore could be more aware about such an issue in the world.
