Experiencing
Activities for today
1. Presentation
2. Outlet Mall
3. Baseball game

Today was one of the most eventful and insightful for me. Firstly for the presentation, I did not participate in presenting as I wasn't signed up for it, but had a good time listening to other international students sharing.
We also visited the outlet mall for about 30 minutes, where Matthew Alya and I visited Adidas to buy our own things.
Lastly, one of the most fun events during the entire trip was the baseball game where we watched the baseball team County Cougars, play in a real-life baseball match. We ate food and talked while having fun watching the game.

Processing
The presentations were very impressive especially the presentation given by our friends from NUS High school, Ragavi and Maxine. They are our seniors who presented on their projects, A Humanised Hypertrophic Cardiomyopathy Model to Elucidate Molecular Mechanism in Disease Pathology. They were very confident and very fluent. This showed that they were very familiar with their research and must have put a lot of effort into their project. Moreover, it was evident that they had a very strong sense of ownership and pride in their project.

From the baseball game, it gave us the opportunity to bond especially with our friends from NUS High, NJC and Ritsumeikan High School. It was a very new experience for me as I never watched any baseball match. During the match, we ate "classic American food" like hot dogs and mac and cheese. Things that made the experience even more enjoyable was the mascots throwing free baseballs into the crowds and cheering really loudly when our team scored.

Generalising
I learnt a lot of scientific knowledge from listening to multiple presentations from students from all over the world. Some include Metal Organic Framework (MOF) used as a fuel cell or hydrogen storage, induced pluripotent stem cells with a heart disease, usage of lithium-ion batteries. However, what I gained from this is realising the amount of passion all the students have for their research. It was clear that all the students were proud of their research, regardless of how nervous they were to speak in front of so many people. It really inspired me to see how they all love their research so much and put in more than 1/2 years of hard work. Comparing to myself, I didn't put in as much effort as them. This gave me the motivation to work even harder and further improve on my research. If they are able to develop their project so well, I should be able to do it too, and hence when I am back in Singapore, I am determined to use the advice from people who heard my poster presentation the day before to improve on my project, and maybe even participate in another science fair. This experience showed me that a good project does not come easy and I should work harder at anything I embark on.

Applying
I want to continue developing on my project, the investigation of the effect of temperature and humidity on the transmission of radio waves, to be a more high level and applicable project. I wish to further improve the data range I collected for a more accurate conclusion and look into the factor of how I can prevent temperature and humidity from affecting the transmission of radiowaves. I hope to be able to achieve these 2 goals by the end of the year.
