Experiencing
Today we went through an activity called a design sprint, went to the local store target and dollar tree and lastly has social activities such as build a bear

I observed that the people here, especially the buddies, are very friendly. I also observed that certain countries tend to speak out more often compared to others. Through the design sprint, I got to work together with people from Thailand, South Korea and Indonesia, where we had to come up with a solution to solve world hunger.

We were quite successful during the design sprint, as we managed to come up with a feasible solution as well as get more votes than other groups. During the discussion, it was also quite smooth because during the discussion part the communication was pretty smooth.

Generalising
I learnt about taking the initiative to start discussions and conversations. When interacting with strangers, let alone from another country, I feel that we should step out of our comfort zone to be approachable and friendly. Especially for group work, being an active participant and giving ideas/facilitating discussions, is quite important not only for the design sprint but for other future group work as well.

As for the topic of zero hunger during our design sprint. It taught me that science is not just about technicality and chemicals etc,  but it is about solving human problems. I found out that zero hunger has a lot of root causes to it and the possible solutions, but it is our job to put these ideas into reality. Solutions not only involve science such as example GMO of crops to increase production but also solutions such as education on how to get out of poverty. I found out that there are many ways to approach this problem and has sparked an interest in me to work in on this issue back in Singapore as an ACE Leader. This showed me that with my knowledge in science, I can apply it back to help the community back in Singapore.

Applying
I think from today, I want to be more friendly and approachable. I want to be able to take initiative to make more friends here and learn as much from the experts I can. I hope to be able to network better and forge friendships with people who are smarter better and n=more knowledgable than I am, to be able to improve myself and learn from them.
