Today we learnt about clean water and sanitation through a panel of experts, and how a lot of people in various parts of the world cannot access such basic necessities like those. The panellists were discussing about how this is a problem, some potential solutions, and also how it is difficult to implement such solutions as well. Next, we had a small workshop on how acidification in water could affect the sea life in the oceans, and how if this continues, it will affect humans as well. Afterwards, we changed into our formal attire, and headed to the Illinois Museum of Science and Industry, where we get to buy some gifts before we head off to Singapore, and also get to witness the closing ceremony. However, what I did not expect was that I managed to win the grand prize in the event, and was really happy about it. After receiving my prize, we then went around to admire the cool and interesting exhibits in the museum, my favourite one being the cannon which can shoot a small tennis ball and you have to aim the cannon, such that the ball lands within an orange coloured zone, which can be done by toggling the angle of shooting the ball and the speed of the ball.

{What is the cause of the success or failure?}

The cause of success would be due to the hard work that I have put into the project, and also due to the support from my teacher and peers before I presented my project.

Generalising
{What have you learnt?}

From this project, I learned about how science, technology, engineering, and mathematics can come together to achieve something that is very impactful to society. Apart from learning the various mathematical methods and scientific knowledge, I have also realised that values such as confidence, determination, curiosity and critical thinking are qualities that set a good researcher apart.

Applying
{What would you do in the future?}

I would continue to keep up with what I am doing currently for my future projects to maintain this standard. Apart from that, I would want to be more confident in myself and keep cool whenever I have any presentations or any other platforms that require me to share my ideas.

Overall comments

Overall, I would really want to thank Ms Mohan for accompanying us and keeping us safe throughout the journey. Next, I would really want to thank the two girls, Valerie and Alya, for supporting and encouraging me when they see me look very nervous and when I almost did not want to go up to present myself. Lastly, I would like to thank Mr Tan for guiding me slowly for this project, and have taught me that it is not just how fast I do my project, but rather how I should stop at times, think about what I am doing, and then do the necessary actions.
